The multimedia performance (S)e(a)scape offers a sonic and visual immersion into the depths of the ocean. It is a journey to discover marine life that both inspires wonder and challenges our perception of these mysterious underwater worlds. The project aims to raise awareness among all audiences about human-generated noise pollution and how our activities disrupt this fragile ecosystem.

(S)e(a)scape is part of Noémie Favennec PhD works, which topic interogates how to increase awareness about ecology through music. A research & creation thesis project directed by Makis Solomos (Université Paris 8, MUSIDANSE) and co-supervised by Irène Mopin (Ensta, Lab-STICC (UMR CNRS 6285)).

The instrumental composition, the sound design, live sounds and video creations include underwater acoustics data, tools and principles at all levels: hydrophone played live, 3D DTM from multibeam echosounder surveys, reflectivity maps, seafloorechoes transposed, SBES echograms sonified, fieldrecordings, propeller cavitation, sound waves.
